Golf Courses
This par 72 Championship golf course measuring 6567 m² from the Tournament tees is a truly unique design. It has water coming into play on eleven of the eighteen holes, the golf course features an enjoyable series of eight par-4s, five par-3s and five par-5s in a challenging and distinctive layout.
Vale Do Lobo Ocean Golf Course
The Ocean Course is composed of the two original 9-hole golf courses designed by Sir Henry Cotton. It also features gently undulating fairways which run alongside nature reserve before leading gently down to the shores of the Atlantic.
Vale Do Lobo Royal Golf Course
The Royal Golf Course is home to the almost island green of the 9th and the famous 16th. This has a cliff-top carryover, one of the most celebrated golfing images in the world. This has become the veritable symbol of golf in the Algarve.
An 8 times consecutive host of the European Seniors Tour Qualifying final. Vale de Pinta golf in the Algarve, is rightly respected not just for its playability and challenging layout but for outstanding levels of beauty and enjoyment. Designed by the famous American golf course architect Ronald Fream and inaugurated in 1992.
After his success designing the Vale de Pinta course, Ronald Fream teamed up with the former world No. 1 Nick Price to create the unique design of Gramacho.
This legendary golf course – is the last designed by architect Sir Henry Cotton. It features the 600 meter par 5 known as the “Sir Henry challenge”, and what a challenge it is!
Silves is a serene spot at the foot of the Monchique mountain, but it is anything other than ‘a walk in the park’. A drive at the opening hole has to flirt with water hazards on both flanks. This course is for players – low handicaps will find it a serious challenge to come in under par.
Pinhal has enjoyed several refinements over the years the most significant coming from Robert Trent Jones in 1985. it was originally designed in 1976 by English golf architect Frank Pennick.
The challenging 18-hole, par 72 course at Espiche has been designed to complement the distinctive Western Algarve landscape. It embraces a sustainable and eco-friendly ethos.
The Laguna Course has a different set up to other courses around Vilamoura and provides golfers with the opportunity to negotiate a host of water hazards. The course opened over quarter of a century ago having been designed by US golf architect Joseph Lee.
The 18 holes lie in the unspoilt Southeast corner of Quinta do Lago, bordering the Ria Formosa Estuary and salt water lagoons. The course was designed by the American golf architect Joseph Lee and the beautiful Bermuda grass fairways provide perfect playing conditions.
Designed by Frank Pennick the Old Course is one of the oldest and most renowned in the golfing world. It is rated by Golf Digest amongst the Worlds Top 100. Located in the heart of Vilamoura it features a great variety of memorable holes.
Opened in 2004 the Victoria Golf Club quickly established itself as one of the premier golf courses in Portugal. To underline this, its pedigree has been proven in playing host to the Portuguese Masters for the last 10 years.
The new layout has been built to the highest specifications, with an investment of €9million. The North Course was totally redesigned in 2014, by renowned architect Beau Welling, in conjunction with former European Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley.
South Course is the crown jewel of Quinta do Lago. Designed in 1974 by William Mitchell. He introduced American-standard greens, tees and bunkers to the Algarve. Soon the course gained a prestigious reputation and became a flagship in the European Tour Course.
Laranjal opened in 2009 and was voted Best Golf Course at the 2011 Portuguese Travel Awards. Originally an orange grove, the par 72 championship course is situated 2 km east of the resort, in the Ludo Valley.
Internationally known, the Vila Sol golf course managed by the Pestana Group, is now part of the Algarve’s most sought after golf courses.
The Millennium course opened in the year 2000 following a significant amount of refurbishment to holes which originally formed part of the Laguna Course
Designed by Sir Nick Faldo with strategic play in mind this 6598m PAR 72 championship course demands careful positioning to score well. The land at Amendoeira is dramatic and the project has the potential to be a real talking point in the Algarve.
Designed by Christy O’Connor Jnr., this course complements the neighbouring Oceanico Faldo Course. It also takes full advantage of being situated in a fertile valley.
The 27-hole Palmares Golf Course is located near Lagos in the Algarve. This course has been totally transformed by the American course designer Robert Trent Jones Jr.
The Three 18 hole courses – Sir Henry Cotton Course, the Resort Course and the Academy Course. Positioned in the western Algarve, Penina Hotel & Golf Resort is widely renowned as the true home of Portuguese golf.
The 18-hole Boavista Golf Course is located very close to the town of Lagos. It offers two distinct sections of play providing a variety of attractive and interesting holes.
The Morgado Golf Course is situated to the north of the town of Portimao and is the sister to the Álamos Course. The Morgado Golf Course is laid out in a large 980 hectare estate through undulating small valleys.
The Alamos is one of the most recent additions in the Algarve, located just north of Portimao. This 18 hole test is laid out as a neighbour to it’s sister, Morgado.
